The House of the Dead: OVERKILL charges you with mowing down waves of infected, blood-thirsty zombies in a last-ditch effort to survive and uncover the horrific truth behind the origins of the House of the Dead. Survival horror as its never been seen before, The House of the Dead: OVERKILL is a pulp-style take on the best selling, classic SEGA light-gun shooter series. Back when the famous Agent G was fresh out of the academy, he teamed up with hard-boiled bad-ass Agent Washington to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances in small-town Louisiana. Little did they know what blood-soaked mutant horror awaited them in the streets and swamps of Bayou City.

Blowing off Steam

Let's keep it short and sweet. What is better than a Grindhouse style shooter? The amusing soundtrack and dialog (NOT FOR KIDS) keeps me rolling as I blast my way through various levels of "mutants." The end of level bosses are often entertaining and may remind you of older movies you might have watched. The ability to upgrade and change weapons makes this a little more entertaining than it's predecessors. The two person co-op is perfect for couples or friends, though when going for high combos you can easily knock the other person down to 0 by taking their kill. (Mini games offer up to 4 players) Cinemas are relatively quick and often foul, but they are visually pleasing. Certainly not the best graphics I have ever seen(if you want that, look at the fantasy games), but game play is easy and more than satisfying for blowing off steam.
THE MOST FUN YOU WILL HAVE WITH A WII SHOOTER EVER

What can i say about this game... it won me over the first time i played it. I had played Resident Evil DSC before this game and altho it was pretty good the aiming system and calibration was horrible... it was sloppy... and you never shot were you wanted to... Then i got this game in the mail, 16$ was a STEAL for this much fun, and 2 player is like your at the Arcade, it has a Screen calibration aiming system that every wii shooter needs to CLONE AND USE because its 95% accurate. The only issue that others have talked about is the screen load lag but honestly... i love this game and iv already played the first level and i cant wait to play the rest and call over all my friends to play along side me . Great game, great wii shooter, Period.
Fun while it lasted

This game is awesome. Or, the first 15 minutes of this game are awesome, I should say.
I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend, but we didn't open it until over 2 months later. (It was lost in a box.)

The game really looked great, and reminded me exactly of what the arcade game should have been. Sadly the game freezes at the first boss sequence every play through. I checked the disc thoroughly and could only find one eyelash length micro-scratch on it. I'm not sure where it came from unless it was the factory or the shipper, since the disc was removed from the plastic packaging and immediately inserted into the Wii.

The parts of the game I did experience were all top notch. The feel of the campy adult-rated zombie thriller. The nonstop action (after one initial long cut-scene) and gratuitous violence-- these were a few of my favourite things. It would likely make for a better party game than Guitar Hero any day, but I have been unable to test that theory.

All said and done I would buy this game again. Well, not the one I got, but a working copy anyway. I'm already considering looking for a used copy to replace it on the cheap.
Fun in small bursts

Reviewer: T. Podlesni,
The gameplay is fun. Some people complain about light gun shooters, but it feels like Time Crisis 2 in your home. The idea of them playing through B-movie levels is also fun. I love the music of the game, it's a refreshing atmosphere breaker. However, the dialog is awful and it shows in the voice acting. One of the characters is a racist Samuel L. Jackson-type caricature, the villain has an annoying Scarface voice, and the female character is dead inside. Combine that with difficulty ramps that aren't supported by the little money you get and you have a very flawed experience. However, skip the cutscenes and play with a friend the game easily gets at least another star.
worlds ov zombie killing fun
