 Warning - Defective Units Commonly Shipped |

| Logitech on their web site states it is a known problem that the RF extender will NOT work if it has certain unit numbers. Both my orders had the defective unit numbers. I am asking for a third shipment. It is very annoying that Amazon is happy to keep shipping units that are known to be defective, as evidenced by all the people getting these bad units purchased from Amazon. |

| The remote seems to work, but the wireless extender fails to update and be added to my system due to "checksum errors." Called logitech, they said the extender had faulty memory and had to be replaced. They tried to get me to return it to amazon, but I insisted that I didn't want to return the unit, I wanted them to replace the wireless extender. After awhile, the CS agent agreed and said it would be more than 10 days before they could send me a replacement. I'm fine with that, as I don't want to risk getting another dud from amazon. I don't know whats up with logitech, they were having issues and couldn't give ma a incident report number, so I'm going on faith that they are actually sending the unit! |

This is a great remote, but the problem comes from parts of the remote. I owned one, and about a week after using it, the accelerometer would no longer light up the screen when moved. I could hear something rattling around inside. Luckily, Amazon was very helpful and sent out a replacement. After a couple of months, I noticed that Volume + button was no longer working as well as the other buttons. You really had to push down on the button to get it to work. Not a big deal, but annoying. Then, just the other night, the LCD screen went blank but would still light up. I looked up the problem on-line, and there is no fix short of opening the remote and replacing the LCD screen. I do have the SquareTrade replacement plan, so I should be getting a replacement/money back. Haven't filed yet, but I will update to let those out there who want to know how that goes.
Regarding Logitech, since the phone was out of warranty, they did offer me 50% off of a new one, but I don't know if I would want to go that route. The seem like great devices, but I'm not sure I want to buy something for that much to have it die so quickly. |

We've owned two Logitech Harmony remotes. There is electrical interference in our living room that prevents other remotes from communicating with the av equipment. The wireless extender included with the 890 permits us to control our equipment from anywhere in our house and could be used with equipment behind closed doors.
The software setup was lengthy, but easy to follow.
The only complaints we have with the product concern the slippery chassis and difficulty operating it with one hand.
I highly recommend this remote. |

Good universal remote! This remote will control pretty much every A/V device you have. Its a good, cheap RF remote in case you have your devices out of site. The only annoying thing is that you have to connect it to a computer and use the logitech software to configure the remote or make any changes to it.
Overall its a great buy and is very useful. |
